SFPA - Slovak Foreign Policy Affairs

The negotiations on Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine concluded
at the level of working delegations in 2009 (except for the Deep and Comprehensive
Free Trade Agreement). The Association Agreement will replace the Partnership and
Cooperation Agreement of 1994. According to Stefan Füle, the EU Commissioner,
negotiations devoted to Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with
Ukraine, which will become part of the Association Agreement, could be fi nished
before the end of 2010.

The aim of the project was to intensify cooperation between
Slovakia and Kazakhstan in the field of science and research, academic cooperation
between the two countries as well as the exchange of students and initiation of joint
research projects in those areas, in which the cooperation between Slovakia and
Kazakhstan could be mutually advantageous and beneficial with the accent put on the
sharing of knowledge and the know-how we gained during the process of transition,
with great emphasis laid on the strengthening of expert capacities in Kazakhstan to
help their country perform further reforms with accentuated democracy a fostered
civic society.
