This comparative report explores the potential for geothermal energy in the heating and cooling (H&C) sectors of Hungary and Slovakia. It supports the alignment of national policies with the EU’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Directives and REPowerEU. The study draws on a literature review, stakeholder surveys, expert analysis of regulatory frameworks and project pipelines, and district heating (DH) mapping to provide the latest data on H&C, DH, and geothermal developments in both countries.
