Foreign Policy Yearbook 1999

Foreign Policy Yearbook 1999

A summary of key aspects of Slovak foreign policy for the year.

The idea of publishing the Yearbook of Foreign Policy of the Slovak Republic originated in the reconstituted Slovak Institute of International Studies on the basis of discussions with the Institute’s staff and independent experts in the preparatory phase of the Institute’s establishment in 1998. The social order to regularly publish a collection of opinions and evaluations of the state’s foreign policy arose from the need to register, in a form accessible to the professional public, the developments in the field of foreign policy in the key period of the state’s birth. The Yearbook as a contemporary source of information and assessments of foreign policy by the decisive actors, together with an ongoing chronology of foreign policy events and other factual information, is in one form or another a standard output in most developed countries.
