Space defence – a challenge for Slovakia?

The project was created in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung - Representation in the Slovak Republic.

Space has long since ceased to be the exclusive domain of superpowers, but also of smaller state or private actors. However, the increased interest in space also brings new threats and risks for which we as an Alliance must be prepared.

That is why on 16 November, together with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, we organised an expert roundtable to discuss the Slovak Republic’s capabilities in space defence, its approach to space as a NATO member, as well as the search for synergies between state institutions and the non-governmental, academic and private sectors.

The experts agreed that Slovakia has the capacity and capabilities to develop its space activities, but needs a strategy and a definition of the goals it wants to achieve in space defence. You can read about space defence, its importance for Slovakia, as well as other conclusions from the roundtable in the publication Space Defence – a challenge for Slovakia?

The publication is available only in Slovak language.
