Vladimír Tarasovič is a research fellow at the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA). Between 1978 and 2005, he held various military positions within the Air Force and at the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. After retiring in 2005, he continued working as a research fellow at the Centre for European and North Atlantic Affairs (CENAA) until 2010. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Director of the Office of the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, and between 2016 and 2018 he worked as Deputy Head of the project focused on establishing an educational institution within the NATO–Georgia programme at the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. He was a co-founder of the publication Panorama of the Global Security Environment and is the author and co-author of numerous publications, studies, and academic articles focused on security and defence issues. He graduated from the Military Aviation Academy in Košice in 1978 and, in 1995, completed studies at the College of Strategic Studies and Defense Economics at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In 1998, he completed a one-year programme at the National Defence Academy in Vienna. In 2010, he completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Košice and obtained a PhD in the field of operational and combat employment of aviation and air defence systems.
