Tomáš Strážay

Tomas Strazay, PhD. has been the director of the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (RC SFPA) since September 2019. Prior to that, he served as deputy director and head of the Central and Southeastern Europe research program. He was also the editor of the quarterly International Issues and Slovak Foreign Policy Affairs. Tomáš is a leading expert in projects focused on regional cooperation in Central Europe and EU enlargement. He is one of the founders of the Think Visegrad - V4 Think Tank Platform. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava in 1999 and received his PhD. from the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw in 2010.

The project focuses on the operation and sustainability of the platform for an institutionalized public debate on European integration issues which is based on the partnership of governmental, non-governmental, business and interest institutions, as well as on strengthening Albania's capacity for EU accession negotiations – National Convention on the EU in Albania.

European Conference 2024: Are we ready for the EU of 30+?

A yearly European conference in Slovakia each year focuses on different topics, based on what is currently the most relevant within the EU affairs. In 2022, Conference on the Future of Europe was addressed, while in 2023, the focus shifted towards the Russian aggression against Ukraine. In 2024, the issue of further enlargement of the EU will set the agenda, as there is a variety of very topical questions to discuss. The conference will consist of four panel discussions, combining expertise from across Europe.

The Annual Review Conference on the Foreign and European Policy of the Slovak Republic is a platform that has a special position in the public foreign policy discourse. The uniqueness of this year’s edition will lie in its scope, as the conference will evaluate a period exceeding one year, the period of the Slovak Republic's existence in a changing geopolitical, security policy and foreign policy environment, which only underlines the exceptional place of the conference in the foreign policy debate in the Slovak Republic.
